  • Trust your child's care to the experience and expertise that comes from working with over 1,000 families and completing a PhD. My experience creates my deep respect for families and for different scientific perspectives on providing meaningful care. By working in children's natural environments, I learn the particulars of their day-to-day routines to help you identify the tiny moments where new strategies can make an immediate difference. This way, your child gets tiny doses of new learning throughout each day, rather than just once a week in a clinic. It also avoids any adjustment time and puts new skills to work in the contexts they will be used the most.

  • In addition to meeting in your child’s natural environments, I can meet with you in your natural environment….…the internet. Because so much speech, language, and literacy care for young children occurs through parent coaching, virtual therapy works extremely well. We can schedule therapy anytime: weekends, evenings, during bedtime or mealtime or early in the morning, so that I can see what really happens in your day-to-day world, then help you make modifications toward the changes you want to see. You can even record videos of your most challenging or rewarding moments, then we can view and discuss them during your child’s nap time, so that you can focus. The possibilities are endless! Virtual care also allows you to access these specialized services even if you do not live in NC’s Triangle region.

  • I believe that all communication is valid, relational, and meaningful. While I participate in diagnosing delays and disorders when needed for health insurance reimbursement, I appreciate all communicative and personal identities. So, bring your real and full selves, knowing that I honor and celebrate each individual and each relationship. I will help you grow in the directions you want to grow.

  • Therapy sessions are $150 per 45 minute visit. Evaluations begin at $250 and vary based on your needs.

Because of my commitment to equitable access to care, I do not participate with insurance providers. However, I provide a superbill after each session, so that you can submit for reimbursement. Many insurances reimburse 70-100% of fees. Check with your insurance company to see how they cover out of network speech, language, and literacy therapies. Contact me to discuss the codes I usually bill.

Please do not let financial means prevent you from contacting me. I am happy to discuss individualized pricing plans.

  • It is time for us to recognize the systemic issues related to literacy and stop placing the burden of reading achievement on individuals. I love to lead interactive sessions that provide learners opportunities to consider and practice critical literacy skills for their organizations and themselves. I personalize single presentations and multi-part courses that inspire people to use their lived experiences to connect children with books and learning. Contact me to plan a presentation for your parent or community group.

  • Many speech-language pathologists receive little to no training in early intervention or literacy. My evidence-based professional development courses give SLPs the tools they need to understand and enact evidence-based early intervention and literacy intervention. I also teach SLPs how to coach families from a deep and connected place. These coaching strategies lead to real and meaningful change in therapists' as well as families’ lives. SLPs are renewed and revived when they reconnect with their purpose and amplify their effectiveness. Let's plan a personalized course for your staff.

  • Early educators, bookgifting organizations, literacy coalitions, and library curators have a responsibility to ensure their picture books and literacy practices are equitable for all. Picturebook collections must include all identities and literacy lessons must help children develop critical literacy skills. Understanding that many perspectives exist and challenging what seems obvious are skills children can begin learning in the earliest days. Educators need to know how to teach them. I provide library analysis and curation to make sure your book collections provide equitable representation of all identities. Additionally, I can assist you with strategic planning and staff development to increase your organizational understanding of your role in providing authentic literacy equity.
